Euro 2008: Netherlands beat France 4-1

Friday, June 13th, 2008

Even though I’m not a very big football fan (soccer for you Yanks :)), I do enjoy a good football match. This night’s soccer match between the Netherlands and France was a great match with good football coming from both sides. The french did put up a good fight but weren’t as fortunate as the Dutchies. Anyway, getting kicked in the ball by us dutchies must feel like punishment. 4-1 and 3-0 to the number 1 and 2 of the WORLD. That must count for something.

Anyway thanks to France for a great match. Fortune has mistreated you. Kudos to the dutch guys as well. You’ve been marvelous.

Wicked! Netherlands - Italy: 3-0

Monday, June 9th, 2008

The Apple iPhone 3G is nice news, but it didn’t surprise me as much as Oranje (how we call the dutch football team) beating Italy with 3-0 at the European Championships in their first match.

Wow!

How I revived my HP ScanJet 3300c on OS X

Sunday, June 8th, 2008

I had this old scanner laying around and found the need to scan some old photos. Of course I could take a picture of the picture using a 10MP digital camera, but somehow that isn’t as pretty or convenient as just scanning.

Apparently I didn’t search well enough for OS X scanner support last time I wanted to scan something. If you go looking for support for your old trusted Windows scanner after you’ve migrated to OS X, you may run into the same trouble I got myself in. Fortunately open source developers have provided the world with a set of drivers for OS X that enables your old trusted scanner under OS X. W00T!

Developers of TWAIN SANE: THANKS!

18 degrees of Chapter 10

Sunday, June 1st, 2008

And it is nice weather outside again. It is past 11pm and still 18 degrees Celsius (65F). With the heating of my MacBook Pro, a good fleece sweater and the wonderful voice of Joss Stone (Live Session EP, iTunes exclusive) it is very comfortable outside.

I’m hoping to finish the review of Wicket in Action’s chapter 10 tonight. The chapter covers:

  • Use Ajax components and behaviors to create responsive web UIs
  • Contribute JavaScript and CSS to the <head> section with header contributors
  • Integrate third party JavaScript libraries in your custom components
  • Gotcha?s when using Ajax in your applications

I’ll have to take a picture of this setup someday. Though I can’t say I enjoy writing, working on a cool night outside certainly is high on my favorite things to do. Now, if I can only come up with a way to include beer in this equation…
