Read comics to support Wicket

Saturday, July 12th, 2008

One of the reasons why I haven't been very fast with releasing Wicket 1.4-m3 is because some dear friends from Hungary are over at our place celebrating a week of vacation in a drowning Holland.

My friend Jenő has promised me that he'll convert his company to use Wicket when a lot of people read the comics on his blog. The comics, drawn by his children Gerle and Virág, were originally written in Hungarian, which is difficult to master (I know, having tried to learn it myself), so we translated several of them.

So help out the Wicket community by reading the comics of Gerle, Virág és Jenő.

Wicket Interview in Brazil

Saturday, July 12th, 2008

A couple of months ago Eelco and I were interviewed by Bruno Pereira for a Brazilian Java magazine. Unfortunately for us this interview was done through email, so no carnival for us. Maybe next year :). You can read the interview here.

I was a Windows client developer used to build GUI’s with Borland’s VCL. Then I had to build web apps using Maverick and Velocity. I hated that experience and constantly asked myself: WHY is this so hard and so much work. Wicket salvaged me from this negative experience: it felt like returning to VCL programming and for the first time I enjoyed
building web apps.
