Nice page for ranting about Eclipse IDE shortcomings. So here goes:
On a past project I had to use CVS from Eclipse.
But i REALLY want to use Subversion. And no, I do not need or have time to learn GIT, or to use other complex tools like Perforce.
I just want SVN to work with Eclipse.
Also, the updates are horrible on Eclipse, I agree with the opinions above. I just delete and reinstall new builds every months...
Is it so damn hard?

Subversive is such an embarassment. Buggy, useless/wrong installation instructions... Like going on a scavanger hunt anytime I need to upgrade. And we've had to tolerate this for YEARS!

If anyone at the Eclipse project is listening... You just lost me and my entire development team. We're moving to IntelliJ IDEA.

You would think eclipse developers would be intelligent enough to integrate subversion into the IDE. Nope. You have to go find a plugin, then install the plugin, then watch the plugin crash.

Bottom line is that eclipse has terrible support for SVN and it doesn't "just work". The whole system is not user friendly, poorly design, slow, and full of exceptions and crashes. Eclipse fanboys want to tout that it "just works" for them but the reality is, it SUCKS.

I've resorted to command-line, however the subclipse support in STS 2.5.2 seems better than netbean's when it comes to merging and branching.

Other than that, the basics are lacking.

Install Netbeans and you have subversion. Install eclipse and read half the Internet trying to find a bleeding plugin scattered over the net that *might* work with your version. For the love of God please make subversion core. It's a freaking nightmare as it stands. And totally agree about the naming convention somebody wrote. Get rid of the marketing twats and just use version numbers.
