Unusual entry: cats and doors

I usually don’t blog about personal things, and write just about Wicket, or any new, Java related subject I’m excited about, but I’m breaking that habit for this time…

What is the fascination cats have with closed doors? Everytime we shut a door to keep the draft out, a cat immediately wants us to open that door. Sometimes she’ll even grant you 5 minutes couch time, but I just think that is the time they need to realize the door has been shut.

Is there any scientific research being done on how long a cat can be in a (large) room with a closed door before she starts to scratch?

Wicket holiday

I’m visiting the greek island of Kos the coming week and even though I’m taking my laptop with me, I doubt I will be spending much time working on Wicket. I am confident that we won’t have too much trouble with our 1.0 release done last tuesday, as there are plenty of people already downloading it.

I hope to return really relaxed and well prepared for my JavaOne 2005 Wicket presentation. I’m taking Wicket 1.0, Tapestry 3.0 and Spring 1.2.1 with me, just in case the weather will turn out to be bad. :-)

Trying out 'ecto'

As I’ve committed myself to the Apple platform, I’m in need of a new blog editor. Ecto seems like the way to go. As it is both a Windows client (laptop from work needs Windows) and OSX, and it supports roller as a blogging server, this program almost seems too good to be true.

I’m trying this one out with this message, so don’t expect too much information yet on the forthcoming Wicket release candidate.
